The Pleasure of Food: Pineapple!

With the arrival of summer to the Pacific Northwest, it is time to indulge in sweet, delicious fruit.

What better summer fruit than the yummy but hard-to-get-at pineapple? The Flaming Chef, The Charming Man, and I made this video so you can enjoy fresh pineapple on a lovely day.

Mmmm, food: Part One.

Several years ago, The Charming Man, The Flaming Chef, and I produced a cooking show called The Pleasure of Food. As a reminder of everyday pleasures, I am reposting them here!

Idea to story.

Chances are, you have ideas. Chances are even better than your friends will have ideas, too. I have a wide circle of friends who love to brainstorm ideas for stories with me.
Dr. S and his really awesome husband, the Flaming Chef.

Dr. Snickerdoodle is one of my favorite brainstorm partners. He told me the story of one of his first crushes, back when the poor doctor lived in the desolate hinterlands of Oklahoma.

Showing that he always was a lot smarter than I was, he avoided telling his crush, since the man in question wasn't the nicest guy in the world.

While Dr. S talked, I took many mental notes on this person's character. He was the sort to play his friends against each other, and had a cruel streak the size of the Marianas Trench. I wanted show his self-congratulatory streak and his enjoyment of frightening and controlling people.

I don't like writing anything too on the nose, so of course, it had to have a vampire in it. And I started writing.

Over the next few days, I'll reveal the story. And we can all talk about getting your ideas out of your head and onto paper. :)

Viva Italy!

For the last two weeks, The Charming Man, the Flaming Chef, his husband Dr. Snickerdoodle, and I have been on vacation in...*drum roll*

Italy!
The Pantheon in Rome.
And it was cooler than even my deepest imagination.

We visited Florence, Rome, and Pompeii.
And over the next few weeks, I'm going to share some of the amazing photos we took there.

Like this one:

And this one, too.

Let's go exploring the pleasures of this magical land!

Dinner with The Flaming Chef and Dr. Snickerdoodle

The Flaming Chef (whose witty and politically aware blog is sadly on hiatus) is another writer trying to make his way in the world. He is working on a brilliant and funny memoir of being a gay man in the macho, intolerant atmosphere of the food industry.

We try to get together once a week to encourage each other and write together. Then The Flaming Chef will cook something spectacular and The Charming Man, Dr. Snickerdoodle (TFC's gorgeous husband), and I will eat like crazed cavemen.

Here is one meal he created last month.

Baguette and butter for a starter, followed by:

Salad made with avocado, tomato, olive oil, salt, lemon, and baby lettuces.

Yum, yum, yummy wine from Vino Vixens wine shop

Langostines  sauteed in butter, olive oil, shallots, and parsley!

And, finally, an amazing baked salmon to top it off.
You should have been there!
